We booked a private room. Was OK but bed dipped in the middle and only one power outlet. Also only one shower / toilet (same room) on same floor as the accommodation; we were there out of season (April) and had to queue whenever we wanted to use it. There is another toilet 2 floors down in the basement, but it's a trek! Great communal kitchen and good selection of breakfast foods (included for free). Good wifi too, excellent location and very friendly owners. Bear in mind that if you're a couple staying in a private room, you're paying motel prices for a hostel set up.
This was such a fun place to stay - we had people from all over the world sitting around the breakfast table talking. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. It felt like staying with a long-time friend.
I've returned five times, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2017 to this great hostel. The hostel has a great management and very friendly owners, is clean, comfortable and great located - two blocks away from the Water street.
